If you're out for a whole day then you need to carry a fair few things - waterproofs, a spare warm layer, food, water and so on, but that doesn't mean that you can't be comfortable. Lowe Alpine's Airzone back system allows plenty of air circulation between the sack and your back and settles the weight well on your hips. Lumbar pads add to the comfort too. All the features you need are there - zipped inside and outside top pockets (the former with a key clip - essential!); a "slide-in" zipped front pocket; mesh side bottle pockets; a rain cover; hydration compatibility and compression straps so that the sack doesn't sag when it isn't full. Add in some nice touches such as stretchy pockets on the waist belt, a bike light holder and trekking pole holders that stop the spiky ends waving about and poking someone in the eye. A really well thought out sack.
