Paramo waterproofs are made from hydrophobic fibres which get thinner outwards, the way that animal fur does. The fibres push any moisture, whether rain, condensation or sweat, into the gaps between them and force it outwards. This active moisture transfer means that there is no need for a barrier membrane and hence they do not have the "armour plated" feel of most waterproofs . Paramo products also breathe in muggy conditions when all other breathable fabrics don't. The result is clothing which will keep you dry in any conditions while being soft and comfortable to wear.

Directional moisture transport can be applied to fleeces too! The fibres may be different but the Taiga will still force liquids outwards and still breathe well. A dense construction plus trapped air between outer and inner parts of the fabric means that this is a very warm fleece. Hand pockets, a map pocket and an extra chest pocket, all zipped, give plenty of storage. There are elasticated waist and hem drawcords, a full length zip and a high poppered collar for extra protection. Used with the Fuera windtop it has a performance comparable to the Alta or Cascada jackets.
